Day 1 - Thursday, January 6,2022- Newark to San Jose, Costa Rica
After 2 years we are trying to get back in the swing of international travel again. I can't say that it's not without a bit of trepidation. We thought by now this would be all be behind us but after 2 vaccines, a booster and a bout of Covid we decided to go for it. Travel hasn't gotten easier. I was surprised by the paperwork to be considered travel ready by United Airlines and to be able to gain entrance to Costa Rica. We also had a little taste of the airline woes but were fortunate to be delayed by only by 1 1/2 hour. Thankfully we had an uneventful flight and upon arrival to San Jose we got through immigration although it took us about 45 minutes as they checked everyone's health pass. It did feel good though to get back in the game of traveling. Gate 1 was there to meet us and took us to the Crowne Plaza Hotel Corobici. There we checked in and met our guide Rafael for a short orientation. We didn't have much time today in San Jose but we ubered to Barrio Escalante and had a nice dinner at the Costa Rica Beer Factory. Luggage out tomorrow at 6:30 so we'll make it an early evening to get ready for our drive to Arenal.
